Knock, Knock: August is Here

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Your outstanding balances on property owner invoices!

Listen, when clients owe you money, it’s no joke. Those outstanding balances can quickly turn into a cash flow deficit, severely slowing down your ability to take on new jobs during peak season. Your goal for August is to get knocking on those doors—in more ways than one.

Here’s how you can take advantage of August for your roofing business:

  1. Load up cash reserves with SquareDash advance payments.

Once your property owner has approved their invoice and paid the deductible, you can get money in the bank with our claim funding. No more paying for materials out of pocket or dipping into the reserves while you wait for the insurance company to cut a check. Coming into August, make sure you’ve received approval on all invoices so your cash reserves are loaded up for the summer selling season and get knocking.
  1. Collect outstanding balances on property owner invoices.

Once the job is done, don’t let that AR file take up space on your desk (and hold your cash flow hostage). During the final walk-through, your property owner should sign off on the last invoice and any outstanding balances so that you can get paid right away. If they haven’t, follow up. You want that cash in the bank before we enter slow season—it’ll be here before you know it.
  1. Start supplementing.

Insurance companies won’t give you an allowance unless you ask. Whether you need extra materials at the front end of the job or need something more on the day of production, your team needs to write the supplement and deliver it to the office right away. August is all about topping up cash reserves. You won’t be able to if you’re constantly dipping into them rather than supplementing appropriately. Be proactive and get your property owners the high-quality roofs you promised.
  1. Keep up the sales game.

You might be in peak season with a queue of jobs, but that doesn’t mean you should slow down. Because you have SquareDash in your corner helping with cash flow and billing to get jobs started, funded, and paid, you can make August as lucrative as spring. Keep up with client referrals and try to land as many jobs as possible this summer.
  1. Ask for referrals.

Most people don’t trust just anyone with their roof—and rightfully so. That means they need to hear from other homeowners about just how great your roofing company did. Have a happy property owner? Reach out to them for a referral. When you’ve done a good job, they’ll want to tell the world about it. You can never have too many excellent reviews, so keep reaching out to happy property owners, past and present, this August.

Knock, knock. Who’s there? SquareDash with your cash reserve top-up! When you stick to these five August tips, you’ll keep building summer momentum for your roofing business. By the end of the season, you’ll have boosted your top-line revenue more easily than ever. Enjoy the steady stream of work while you can. And remember, insurance companies won’t give you what you don’t ask for. Be proactive upfront, and we’ll help with the rest.

Happy roofing.
