Planting the Seeds of Success in April

You know, April can be a strange month for roofers and restoration contractors. Winter’s far behind us, but prime-time storm season is still a month or two away. 

I’m here to tell you—this is not the time to go fishing. (At least not every day.) Storm clouds or not, April is a critical month in the life of your business, and the work you do now will go a long way toward determining your success or failure in the ‘24 storm season. 

Here are four areas of focus for this month. 

Do a deep dive on your financial statements.

When the hail hits the fan, you’re going to want to know exactly where you stand financially. Ensuring that your profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, and balance sheet are updated and accurate will put you in the best position to make the right decisions to maximize your storm season. 

Build awareness of your business. 

When a homeowner is in need of a business like yours, it’s to your advantage if they already know who you are. Whether it’s direct mail fliers, targeted ads, sponsoring the community soccer league, or attending networking events, getting your name out there is critical. 

Begin CTA-based campaigns

Round out your marketing efforts with hard-hitting, response-driven tactics. Whether you’re offering a free inspection or a chance to win a prize, tactics like direct mail and social media are a great way to capture leads that can pay huge dividends for your storm season. 

Finalize new hire selections

This one is big. None of the steps above can make much of a difference if you don’t have the right people in place to deliver. And remember, that promising candidate you interviewed is likely to be interviewing with your competition, too. Get those offers out now so you have time to onboard and train your new team members.
